Holistic Massage

The world of complimentary therapy can be a little confusing. Massage is just one of many different types of therapy - and there are dozens of different massage types.

As its name suggests, complimentary therapy works in addition to, and in harmony with, other medical treatments.   The dictionary defines 'holistic' as treating the whole and not a part.   Holistic Massage Therapy helps to locate and treat the root cause of the discomfort in addition to dealing with the problem itself, thereby benefiting both mind and body.   For the mind, it's rare that we take an hour to lie down, close our eyes and relax.  An hour's peace and quiet away from ringing phones and a demanding lifestyle has a definite restorative effect in itself.   For the body, the massage helps taut muscles learn to relax and this, combined with strokes to aid lymphatic drainage, helps to release toxins.   The benefits can be felt by all ages, backgrounds and lifestyles.    The time for a treatment session will depend on the treatment needed, which can vary from a full body massage, to a specific area such as the shoulders or legs.   The first consultation includes a review of the client's overall medical condition and this, like every other session, is treated in the strictest confidence.  Any recorded data is also kept secure.   Further consultations are shorter, although awareness of the client's overall condition is constantly monitored as this has an important effect on the type of treatment offered.
