Human/equine Bowen Therapist
Bowen Therapy is a gentle holistic treatment using fingers and thumbs, to make a series of precise rolling - type moves. This creates a vibration, helping to relieve tension and reduce pain. There are short breaks between the moves to allow the body to respond to the moves, and to make subtle changes if the body chooses to. There is no forcing the body into an outcome. Bowen makes a suggestion to the body to re- balance itself.
The treatment is suitable for all ages.
The Bowen Technique was developed in Australia in the 1950s by Thomas Ambrose Bowen, who used it on people, racehorses and greyhounds, with astounding results.
"I came across Bowen when I had a knee injury, and was very surprised at how effective such a gentle treatment could be. I was already thinking about doing therapy for horses - and Bowen seemed to be the answer.
As a riding instuctor, it was the the missing link. I now look at the biomechanics of the horse and rider, before giving text-book instructions."
