Bowen Therapist

Donna Rae Walls CBS CEBS

Human/equine Bowen Therapist

Bowen Therapy is a gentle holistic treatment using fingers and thumbs, to make a series of precise rolling - type moves. This creates a vibration, helping to relieve tension and reduce pain. There are short breaks between the moves to allow the body to respond to the moves, and to make subtle changes if the body chooses to. There is no forcing the body into an outcome. Bowen makes a suggestion to the body to re- balance itself.

The treatment is suitable for all ages.

The Bowen Technique was developed in Australia in the 1950s by Thomas Ambrose Bowen, who used it on people, racehorses and greyhounds, with astounding results.

"I came across Bowen when I had a knee injury, and was very surprised at how effective such a gentle treatment could be. I was already thinking about doing therapy for horses - and Bowen seemed to be the answer.

As a riding instuctor, it was the the missing link. I now look at the biomechanics of the horse and rider, before giving text-book instructions."

I am a registered Psychodynamic Counsellor with over 12 years Counselling experience.

I have a successful private practice/business (Clarity Wellbeing Services) and deliver services in Suffolk and more recently Diss. During this period, I delivered numerous Courses for adults across Suffolk which included Anxiety Management, Anger Management, Confidence & Self Esteem, Food and Mood, Depression Management and Motivation to be Active. I had M.E for 11 years which took over my body, my mind, my life! After receiving support from a Hypnotherapist who was also a Wellness Coach I started to take back control by taking responsibility over my health and my life. I also had Reiki Healing which was so very deeply relaxing, healing and nurturing. After 6 sessions I started to move forward positively and I have not looked back since! This inspired me so much that I trained in these therapies. I am very passionate about supporting others to move forward in their lives, making positive changes and loving their life with a renewed zest for life and a strong self - esteem and positive view of themselves.

It is a privilege to help others to reach their potential and to live the life they want and deserve!

Counsellor

I am an accredited psychotherapist with UKCP and I have 12 years of post-qualification experience.

To help the public know who they can trust, UKCP set high standards for psychotherapists to be trained and experienced. They give their seal of approval to those psychotherapists who meet their standards by registering them. I received my UKCP registration (approval) in 2006 and my reg number is 6158334.

I practise both individual work and group work. I have been holding individual sessions with clients in Islington from 2011 to 2018. This has benefitted many people and now I am offering individual sessions in Diss.

I facilitate groups and my longest running group is a weekly therapy group at Mind in Camden which started in 2009 and is still going strong. Now I provide a therapy group meeting weekly in Diss.

I attended training at the Oxford School of Psychodrama and Integrative Psychotherapy. My trainers were Peter Haworth and Susie Taylor who are well-known and respected. My training lasted from 1998 to 2003.

My training involved facilitating a weekly group with hospital patients to prove that I could professionally handle the issues that arise. I had an honorary contract for 3 years at an NHS hospital (Mile End Hospital) where I ran a weekly group for out-patients. This included assessing patients as well as facilitating the group of 5-6 members with depression and anxiety. This has left me with a strong foundation.
